Up for offer is a rare single portrait badge featuring the late Kim Jong Il wearing a Korean People’s Army’s Marshal’s uniform.
Portrait badges depicting either Kim Il Sung or Kim Jong Il (or both) in their Marshal uniforms were mostly issued to members of the Korean People’s Army, though there are a few examples of civilians also wearing these badges. Uniformed portrait badges are highly desired compared to their standard counterparts. This particular design can be seen worn by an unnamed 2nd Lieutenant of the Korean People’s Army in a photo taken in 2008 at Panmunjom.
The condition of this badge is very good, with the only notable flaw being a small scratch near the left cheek of Kim Jong Il. There are some minor surface scratches barely visible. There is no yellowing whatsoever from aging or exposure to the sun. The reverse is also very clean, though the pin is slightly bent due to previous use.
