Up for offer is an extremely rare Hero of the Republic medal in nearly mint condition.
Hero of the Republic is the DPRK’s most prestigious title which is usually issued with this medal and an Order of the National Flag 1st Class. This example is a T1V2 variant, originally produced at the Moscow Mint by the Soviet Union on behalf of the DPRK. The T1V2 variant was issued from 1954 converted from T1V1s. The difference is the original inscription (조선인민공화국 영웅) was ground down and replaced with a new hand carved inscription (조선민주주의인민공화국 영웅).
Condition is near mint; impeccable given the age of the medal. There are no flaws whatsoever other than a bit of surface scratches common with any issued medal.
