Description
Up for offer is an extremely rare single portrait badge featuring Kim Il Sung wearing a Western suit and black tie facing frontward. It is also markedly smaller than an average small flag shaped portrait badge.
This forward facing badge design was only seen in the early 2000s most famously worn by American defector James Joseph Dresnok. The badge has a width of 2.4 cm, being noticeably smaller than the typical single portrait flag design with widths of of 2.6 cm. An even smaller design is known to exist with a width of 2.2 cm, though not featuring this frontward facing design.
The condition of this badge is decent, though it has a significant flaw being a very noticeable crack on the obverse left side under the Worker’s Party emblem. A small dent is also noticeable under Kim Il Sung’s nose. The reverse side is very good, though the pin is noticeably misshaped from previous use.
This is the only known example of this design to have surfaced. Any evidence to the contrary is welcomed!
